(More customer reviews)While this product is intended to be a "safe alternative to foam" product for cushions, deck chairs, custom seating, upholstery, camping, boating, etc., I actually use it quite differently: as a large, safe workstation for needle-felting. The square cushion allows safe poking with the tiny, sharp felting needles; it protect one's working area be it a table or one's own lap.
In needle felting, the felting foam needs to be about two inches thick for a safe work area, and this Nu-Foam product, though not specifically designed for felting, fits the bill, as well as giving a work area of 14in x 14in ---an area larger than the specially made felting foams and mats offered on Amazon, which is my primary source for supplies. A large working area is necessary for big felting projects. [NOTE: some felting folks may prefer the true felting foams and mats to this product. Please investigate all options before purchasing for your craft. :) ]

For those folks who want to use this product for what it was truly intended, here some information from the product's own packing that might be useful for your decision-making: This is a cushion made of compressed polyester, which is reputed to be better than traditional foam. It contains the followed stated characteristics: 1) Flame retardant; 2) Will not yellow or disintegrate; 3) Easy to handle and resists mildew; 4) Washable and non-allergenic. I can see how people could use this product in a variety of creative ways. Slap a cover on it and one could have a fairy decent stadium seat pad for ball games. Science and biology students might find it an acceptable work surface for certain projects. Astronomers could slap a cover on it and using it as a kneeling pad while they are assembling / using telescopes, OR they could use it to protect their equipment while traveling to viewing sites.
